Waiting for Merlin’s call

The first day of Autumn

doesn’t seem that much different from the last day of Summer,

but you can’t stop thinking of aging

and the miracles of ancient beliefs

You wait for the alchemy of a warlock’s call

telling you a negative is a positive

and a wonderful excuse for a celebratory feast

at an inexpensive restaurant with outdoor seating

and live incantations of music
