Praying for the end times

Today, I mourn

those souls, those true believers

who prayed and sought

the return of the Spirit of God

But were either too early

or didn’t read the fine print

that the return was likened

unto a thief in the night

and they spent

all their waking hours

sitting on their back stoop

waiting for the descent of clouds
