From a prompt – Odds and Ends
A popular TV therapist said you need to organize
your life, and diagnosed After COVID Clinical Depression–
advised you to clear out your closets,
take bags of clothes and old furniture to Goodwill,
deep clean the refrigerator, kitchen, and garage,
discard your old meds and all the bottles of cologne
you received as gifts that you hate and never use.
Because you cannot spell miscellaneous, and
mishmash and hodgepodge does not roll off your tongue
so you decide the phrase Odds and Ends will have to do,
and dump the junk drawer out on the table.
There is no manual that explains the difference
between an Odd and an End, or which one belongs
in the back of the drawer. You slide deeper
and deeper into depression and hope
next week Frasier Crane has an answer.
