Loneliness

He misses Chinese carryout for two,

his ex-girlfriend’s mother and son,

the thought of being needed.

He blames their breakup on COVID,

Fox News and conspiracy theories.

He said he was too mad to pray.

It was too recent and raw

to attempt to talk common sense.

So I just sat and tried to be a friend.
