Beatitudes

Dear Coronavirus,

I am preparing for you

stockpiling in a large container

in the bedroom ammo for a siege

when you come by for a visit to our town

I won’t have to fight the rush at the store

I am buying Clorox wipes, tissues

disposable masks and gloves

spray disinfectant cleaners, paper towels

peroxide, alcohol, saline nasal spray

elderberry syrup, echinacea, zinc

and vitamin c.

I will read healing prayers

and prayers for strength

so if my neighbor is suffering

I may have the resolve to leave

the safety of our fortress home

and live by the beatitudes.
